Today’s quote:

Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!

Routine is something I’ve been thinking about lately, as school has finished and all our other activities have wrapped up. Summer stretches out ahead of us, although you’d never think it based on the day of non-stop rain we’ve had here in Massachusetts. Nap time is no longer a feature in our house and to be honest, without it, the whole day seems very long. Inspired by my friend Marci‘s plan I hope to institute a routine for the summer. The main objective of my routine is to have activies to keep the kids engaged and to spend quality time with them that we will all enjoy but also allowing some time for me. I’m hoping a routine will free me up to do the things I want to do, instead of wasting my free moments surfing. I haven’t figured it out yet but I’m thinking about it and that’s a start – right? One idea is to include the kids more in meal preparations and activity planning so they feel involved in decisions. A lot of what is going to be happening over next month (our move) is going to be out of their control so I’m hoping that this will help. Oh and I’ll take any suggestions!
