Today’s post:

And so our mothers and grandmothers have, more often than not anonymously, handed on the creative spark, the seed of the flower they themselves never hoped to see — or like a sealed letter they could not plainly read.
— Alice Walker

Where did my creative spark come from? As a child I was always enouraged to be creative, to draw, sew, crochet, do crafts. My parents loved to see my new creations. I believe my mother always harbored a desire to learn more about art – something she never had the opportunity to do. As I got older I think she expected me to be more practical and sees some of what I do now as frivolous. My father has worked with his hands all his life as a carpenter and proud dad that he is, he checks my gallery every day to see my layouts.
